Just two miles from Dornoch Castle, Cathedral and world-famous Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Embo House stands in 8 acres of grounds and overlooks the Dornoch Firth. Dating from the sixteenth century, it was a castle of the Clan Gordon, later benefitting from an elegant, Georgian make-over. Today it provides contemporary, luxurious self-catering (or catered) holiday accommodation.
The house sleeps up to 16 in 8, en-suite bedrooms. It boasts a light, well-equipped kitchen, a grand dining room, a beautiful cedar-lined library, a cosy sitting room and a whisky bar/games room. So there are lots of spaces for people to come together – or be alone in. There is free WiFi throughout the house.
Embo House Facilities
Outside there is a large Hot-Tub, Summer-house, Tree-house, BBQ, Golf Practice Pitching area, Boules Court, Ping-pong table, Croquet lawn and Fire-pit, amongst other entertainments. It is just a short, 10-minute walk down a private path to the golden sands of Embo Beach – and a 45-minute walk along the beach to Dornoch itself.
The house is pet-friendly and can accommodate up to 2 well-behaved dogs.
The bedroom suites are all individually decorated and named after local Malt Whiskies. 7 of the suites face the sea. They are filled with luxury touches: super-comfy beds with Egyptian cotton sheets; bluetooth wireless speakers; fluffy bath towels; hairdryers; complementary bathrobes and slippers and Temple Spa toiletries. They all have powerful showers and 5 suites have large, free-standing baths.
There are 6 Super-King double beds, (5 of which can be split into twin beds if desired) plus 1 King Size Double bed and 1 Standard Double bed
There is also 1 travel cot and 2 put-you-up children’s beds if required

We understand everybody’s holiday requirements are a bit unique so we are pleased to offer a flexible approach to catering and housekeeping, where you can ask for as much or as little help as you want.
On the food side, we can offer freshly-cooked Highland breakfasts, delicious “nae-bother nights in” and Celebration meals featuring fantastic local produce, as well as home-cooked ready meals – and other things besides.
We have a similarly flexible approach to housekeeping, whereby you can request anything from a full “hotel” housekeeping service, to a single session of cleaning and tidying – so you can have the holiday you deserve!
